2026 Girls Softball Registration

Welcome

Welcome to the 2026 BYS Girls Softball Registration!

This registration session will allow you to complete contact information and sign up for participation.

Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately.

Blaine Youth Sports Softball is for all skill levels.  There will be no tryouts for these teams.  The mission of BYS is to allow for as many athletes in Blaine to play, so this means we may have multiple teams of the same grade level.

Teams will be divided as follows:

*Please use your child's age as of December 31, 2025 to determine what team they play on.*

8U Team: Age 8 or under (Typically 1st or 2nd grade).  Pitching machine or coaches will pitch to the players.  Pitching machine is set 40' from home plate and the bases are 60'.  Teams will use a baseball size ball for this league.

10U Team: Age 10 or under (Typically 3rd or 4th grade).  10U Softball is a fast-pitch league (40' pitching distance, 60' bases).  Girls are just starting to learn to pitch, so if a batter is thrown 4 balls, the coach will come into pitch instead of the player getting a walk.

12U Team: Age 12 or under (Typically 5th or 6th grade).  Girls will be pitching.  12U Softball is a fast-pitch league (40' pitching distance, 60' bases).

Girls may elect to play up a level, but not down.

If we do not have enough girls to make a full 8U team, then we will have a co-ed Rookies Team that will participate in the Baseball League.

When are Practices?

Practices will most likely be once or twice a week depending on age and field availability.  Practices will start the end of March.

When are Games?

Games will start the week of April 13 and run through May 22 (12 games total).  Teams play 2 games per week, 1 on a weeknight, and the other on Saturday. There will be local travel to Ferndale, Meridian, Mt. Baker, Lynden and Nooksack.

Entry fee is $85 per child.  Each child will get a uniform shirt and a hat/visor.  Players will need a glove, pants and appropriate shoes.  BYS may be able to supply helmets, bats and catcher gear if needed.

Coaching:

  • We cannot run this program without our volunteer coaches!  We need you!  If you can, we encourage you to sign up to coach.

Please remember that Blaine Youth Sports is a non-profit and ALL VOLUNTEER based organization.  Our board members and sports directors spend a lot of time behind the scenes putting together and running this program for our community.  We need your helpful support! We recognize that sports can bring out strong emotions, but it’s important to remember that our program is designed not only to teach skills but also to foster teamwork, resilience, and, most importantly, a love for the game. To achieve this, we rely on a positive and supportive environment from everyone involved—both on and off the field.
